The Small Town of Lostwithiel, Cornwall
The small town of Lostwithiel, Cornwall, England lies nearly in the central region of the Cornwall Peninsula, in the southwestern region of the country and the United Kingdom. It lies on an estuary of a local waterway, the Fowey River. Today, it has a population of nearly 3, 000 people. It also sits on the A390, which is a road located in Cornwall and the neighboring county, Devon. It runs from Tavistock over to Truro, in the county.
There is a bit of history to Lostwithiel. It is known as a historic borough, the designation which it kept until it was re-categorized as a civil parish in the 1960s. It lost its two members to the unreformed House of Commons, which was the name the of the English House of Commons before the Reform Act of 1832 was enacted.
The town has the benefit of having a railway station in its midst. The Cornish Main Line railway runs through Lostwithiel, and runs from Plymouth to the famous old pirate town of Penzance.
There are also several notable historical buildings within the town, including Saint Bartholomew’s Church, a mainly 14th century structure with Grade 1 status, and the Restormel Castle, which is one of the four castles in Cornwall erected by the Normans during their reign in England.
Lostwithiel lies in the old tin-mining region of Cornwall and was once known as a stannary town. Stannary refers to mining activities involving that metal. At one time – due to its stature in tin mining – it was considered one of the most important towns in Cornwall, though that status is much reduced nowadays.
Cornwall is today designated as both a ceremonial county and a smaller unitary district within the English classification system of such regions.
It makes up the entire tip of the southwestern peninsula of Great Britain. It is also bordered on two sides by bodies of water, the Atlantic Ocean on the northern side and the English Channel on the southern side of the peninsula.

How to make your small condo unit looks great
Good planing is needed, you can do it …. the 20 sqm condo need not be like a shoe box.
Urbanites , young couples and professionals are looking into a small pads in the metropolis .+I came up with the system where you can double the space .
1. Light, neutral colors make the room expensive .
2. Since clutter is the main concern of condo dwellers , many of the walls are actually built – in – cabinets .
3. To save on space , the furniture proportion is scaled down and have dual purposes . Benches contain lots of drawers and freestanding cupboards can be converted into work desk . Beds and iron boards can be tucked into the walls and laid out when needed.
4. Doubling the space means doubling the utility . You can use the space for other activities during the day . A room for instance , can be a study or office by day and converted into bedroom at night .
5. The kitchen can be transformed into dining area with cabinet caddies that can be folded up into a dining table . The hall-way is actually a walk-in closet .
Twenty years ago , people moved into a subarbs because the city was getting crowded . But with the rising cost of gasoline and traffic , they’re now acquiring small condominiums in the city for convenience .
My advise is that for small space , stick to simple natural colorsso the space looks expensive . Too much of plain colors can get dull so you add accent paints and accent finishes — a range of finishes in which all the swatches match . The selection is idiot – proof . They can be mixed and matched without worrying that nothing can blend . The colors are mostly earth tones and natural colors drawn from nature and sunlight . The finishes are suitable for condo living — resillient to the wear and tear of daily use and are cost effective .
Long – lasting finish
One finish is Thermafuse laminate which endures extreme heat and preasure . The hardware is also very sturdy and rush – proof and the acrylics are safe for children . You can use them at the lower porion of the cabinet without fearing that the kids will break it or hurt themselves .
Even the lighting design follows an idiot – proof formula , where every square meters follows a certain ratios of light and fixtures , depending on the pricing. The lighting could be as direct as task lighting for reading or for highlighting artworks , or cove lighting for mood or for avoidance of glare .
On trends , clients are more mobile , hence they want a low – maintenance lifestyle with less clutter . Storage is their main concern because clutter is the enemy of space . Compared with the past decades, they are more selective about their accessories . They are more pragmatic and favor objects which have emotional value .
Some tips
A. Embrace Built – ins. Beds can be tucked in the walls and laid out when needed .
B. Lose the ironing board . It is mounted in the cabinet . You save space .
C. Choose convertible furnishing . Caddy cabinet makes a table for four or six .
D. Defy gravity . A fordable cantilevered dining table for two allows free – flowing movement .

Eyemouth – Scottish Borders: A Small Town
Article by Simon Haughtone
We do not know what you think, but we absolutely enjoy going to those small towns. There is just something about them. Everyone seems to know everyone and most of all, everyone has on a friendly face. Those small towns seem to be so peaceful and relaxing. We come from a small town, so that may be why we draw to other little towns. One small town that we have gained a lot of interest in is Eyemouth, which is in the Scottish Borders. In this town, according to a survey that was taken during the year 2004, you are going to find a population of about 3, 420. Are you interested in learning more about this small town? If so, then continue reading the paragraphs we have written below…
The town has gotten its name from its located. You see, it is sitting right at the opening of the Eye Water, hence the name “Eyemouth.” On the coastline, you are going to five high cliffs that are looking over clear water that is deep. There are also sandy covers and harbours that are a must see.
Also in the town, you are going to find a fishing port, which has gained a lot of popularity throughout the years. Each year, the town celebrates a Herring Queen Festival. As you are traveling through the area, you are going to come across many notable buildings.
There are many other interesting buildings that are in this town. One of the ones we find very interesting is the Gunsgreen House. Why is this interesting? Because this home was built in order to protect the cemetary from resurrectionists also known as body snatchers.
All trades and crafts that go on in this area have been associated with the fishing industry. You have everything from ship building to net making and repair. You are also going to come across smoke houses, which are used in order to prepare fish the traditional small town way.

How to Decorate a Small Apartment Without Spending a Fortune
You can easily decorate your small apartment beautifully, even if you’re working with a small budget. There are ways to buy nice furniture and decorative household items even if you don’t have a lot of money to spare.
Decorating a small apartment is relatively easy, as you don’t have too much extra space to fill. In fact, the less room you use, the more space it will appear you have.
Decide first how you want your space to look. Get out home decorating magazines. Look for items you want but can’t necessarily afford new, and try to come up with ways to get a similar look by spending less money. Take time to browse through antique shops and thrift stores. You can try looking at places like Fred Meyer or Costco for nice-looking furniture and home decor where things can cost a whole lot less.
Take your time, and take advantage of sales. You can decorate your apartment nicely, one or two pieces at a time if you need to. Start with furniture. Your small apartment will look less crowded if the larger pieces of furniture, like the couch and coffee table, are on a smaller scale. You might want to consider just getting a love seat instead of a full sized sofa. New, a love seat will generally be less expensive than a larger sofa anyway. But you can spend a little bit of extra time looking at second-hand shops for your furniture, and save loads of money.
You can try your luck looking for things like lamps, and smaller household items at yard sales. You can often find these items for super cheap prices. The reason I suggest yard sales for smaller items is that it defeats the purpose driving around in a larger vehicle looking for furniture, as you’ll be spending extra money on gas.
You can often find really good art for your small apartment by looking at local, up and coming artists, as they will often sell their work for less money. Don’t feel bad, because everyone has to start somewhere, it’s not taking advantage of the artist. They wouldn’t be selling at low prices if they didn’t want to sell their work. You can also find excellent quality original art for low prices on Ebay.

How to Keep A Beagle In A Small Apartment
Beagles are a breed of dog that actually does very well in apartments if they get enough exercise. They are bred to be in packs and to hunt although they can adapt to being solo dogs in an apartment.
The biggest challenge is to prevent barking / baying. There are anti-barking collars that spray lemon when the dog barks. This works well with many dogs. For persistent barkers, electric shock collars can be used. I elected to use a battery operated anti bark device that emits a high pitched sound only dogs can hear when there is persistent barking. This has worked extremely well with my beagle.
Some dogs are comforted enough by pheromones which contain DAP – Dog Appeasing Hormone such as ComfortZone. This hormone is given off by mother dogs to comfort their litters. It does not work on all dogs and did not work with my beagle.
If you can take your dog to the dog park r for a walk before leaving, he may be tired enough to not raise a fuss. When you do leave, make leaving low key and vary your routine. Leave for short periods of time at first and don’t fuss when you return.
Some dogs do well in crates if properly crate trained. Never punish your dog by sending it to the crate. Use the crate to feed treats and always provide something for the dog to do – toys or treat filled toys such as a stuffed Kong.
If your dog needs more activity, consider hiring a dog walker to take your dog to the off leash park or at least get your dog out for a potty break during the day.
The best piece of mind may be taking your beagle to doggy daycare. There are numerous doggy daycares in the country. In the seattle area, the rates vary from .00 – .00 a day for doggy daycare depending on location and services desired. Petsmart was at the lowest end at .00 a day. A friend may also be willing to look after your beagle.
Any pet store or pet supply store will have someone who can help you make choices on what is best for your dog. Beagles are a very special breed and with proper care, will be a great apartment companion.

Getting Small Business Loans with No Collateral in this Recession
The global financial crisis has made it quite difficult for companies, especially small businesses, to get business loans. Ironically, it is also in this situation that smaller companies often need additional capital infusion to boost income. You may need to get small business loans to acquire a better business location, construct a new building, renovate your premises, pay for new equipment, fixtures or furniture or increase inventory and working capital.
Most Small Business Loans Require Collateral
To get business loans, even small business loans, is a major challenge.
First you need to identify which among the many types of small business loans you need. Small business loans ranging from $5,000.00 to $35,000.00 are called micro loans. For larger needs, such as for the acquisition of land, buildings and other major fixed assets, development financing is what you should find. There are also import export loans as well as franchise financing. Do your research to find out if you are qualified for small business loans guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration or SBA.
Any of these small business loans will require extensive preparations and paperwork. As a small business owner, you will need to prove your credit worthiness through a personal credit history report. Lenders will also require a business plan which includes your credentials as the business owner, your company financial statements, business assets and an analysis of your market. All of these should be packaged in a professional loan proposal which presents how the loaned amount will be used to strengthen the business and how you intend to repay the loan. Most of all, you need to present your loan collateral – the assets you will put up to secure the loan.
Quick and Easy Small Business Loans with No Collateral
For smaller acquisitions or day to day business needs, there is a way for entrepreneurs to get small business loans easily and quickly with no collateral. This is through merchant services.
Merchant services provide credit card services to businesses. This enables them to accept and process payments through credit cards or debit cards either through face to face purchases, online transactions, or even by phone or fax. Merchant service providers supply terminal equipment for card swiping, as well as the necessary software and high speed IP solutions.
Most businesses need credit card services since consumers routinely pay for goods and services through credit cards and debit cards these days. If your business has not taken this step yet, you may have been missing out on more than half of your income potential.
These same merchant services also provide the solution for your small business loans. Collateral-free loans can be availed of through their cash advances, with the loan amount computation based on the monthly credit card revenue your business generates. Credit card sales requirements may be as low as $3,000.00 a month. You will not be asked for collateral since your future revenue is your collateral.
The best types of merchant cash advances do not require fixed monthly payments nor do they impose deadlines on loan payment. A certain percentage is instead deducted automatically from your credit card revenue each month to go towards loan payment. This way, you never have to worry about loan amortization.
Once your cash advance has been fully paid, you may apply for another one. It is like having a revolving credit line. Make sure that you compare the terms of several merchant service providers, though, and read the fine print on contracts. There are so many merchant service providers competing for your business that you’ll surely find one that fits your needs.
Internet Voice for Small Businesses
Internet voice offers plenty of potential savings and productivity for small businesses. You can pay a fixed fee for monthly calling plans that include unlimited long distance coverage of North America and have the ability to program your phone to follow your movements without ever having to talk to a phone company representative ever again.
As an example, you have access to a wide range of business services that previously were only available to larger corporate users, including: call forwarding, multiple simultaneous rings (where an incoming call can be answered wherever it is more convenient), follow me (where incoming calls are routed to particular numbers at particular times of the day), and do-not-disturb. All are now part of most Internet voice service plans at no extra charge.
The downside is that your phone is more closely tied to your Internet service, which is less reliable than standard land-line phones. If your connection goes south, so does your phone service.
There are three basic different types of business Internet voice service. Most providers offer monthly plans that start at $50 per line including Verizon’s VoiceWing for Business, AT&T’s CallVantage, Packet8.com’s Virtual Office and various business phone plans from other high-speed Internet providers that are basically a two-line version of their consumer service. All of those offer minimal features and are designed for a single office location. They also make use of standard or analog telephones that you buy in any office supply store.
The next step up from these plans are ones from what is called a “hosted service” that is provided by VirtualPBX.com, M5Net.com, Bandwidth.com and numerous others. Basically, those providers rent you space on their systems and connect up your offices via high-speed Internet lines. They typically start at several hundred dollars a month but also include a high-speed Internet connection that you can use for other applications such as Web and email.
The most expensive level is buying your own Internet voice PBX, or phone switch. That can cost more than $1,000 for the switch, and more than $500 a month for the various plans, and is designed for larger offices. Both Linksys and D-Link offer less expensive switches but require configuration and help from a consultant.
Here are some questions to ask before you decide on which business plan is the right one for you.
1. How many incoming phone numbers do you need?
If you have inbound fax lines and analog answering machines that you can’t or won’t get rid of, you need to figure out a plan for either keeping these lines or substituting work-arounds to continue using these phones. The various Internet voice services also vary in their support for inbound analog lines, something that is also worth investigating.
This is also a good time to calculate how many new digital phones you’ll need to buy. Given that prices are rapidly dropping on phones, it doesn’t make much sense to buy any more than what you need at first.
Also, you will want to investigate whether you can keep your existing inbound office number(s) when you move to the new Internet voice system. Some of the providers can move your numbers in some locations, and some can’t. It is worth checking: There are many reasons why they can’t be transferred – some political, some technical – but if you need to keep your existing numbers you may have to continue to pay your local phone company for minimal service for these lines.
2. How many different offices will you want to tie together under a single plan?
If you are just buying service for a single location, start with the simplest plans and see if they will meet your calling needs. Things get complicated quickly as you involve having multiple, geographically distant offices that can be connected via one central office number. Do you want everyone in these offices to have their own extension, to give the impression that they are all working out of the same “office?” That is what providers such as VirtualPBX.com are geared toward.
3. What kind of high-speed Internet service do you presently have to your office?
The type of connection is critically important to your experience with Internet voice business service. Voice quality is directly related to things such as network latency and packet delays that can cause drop-outs and degrade the overall audio of your calls. You will need to hire someone who specializes in Internet voice applications or spend some time understanding these issues and testing your existing connection. If you hire an Internet voice consultant, he or she should be able to do that for you.
Before you attempt anything, a good place to start is with TestYourVOIP.com, a free service that can indicate whether your connection is fast enough to support voice applications. Ideally, you want to purchase what is called a T-1 line for an office that has more than five people.
4. Do you need to upgrade your office wiring and network?
If you are working out of a home office or a place where you can wire up your phones, then you are in better shape for Internet voice, because you will probably need to do some wiring. Internet phones require more recent and higher quality network wiring than your average computer. Again, your voice consultant should be able to make the appropriate recommendations, but realize that this could be part of the cost of the overall job, and it could get pricey if you have to replace switches, routers and other network gear.
A second issue is whether you want to deploy Power over Ethernet switches to power your new digital phones. Sure, you can plug the new phone into a standard AC wall socket, but that might not be convenient or as reliable as having them get their power from a central wiring closet that has battery backup in case of power failures. Here again, you may be looking at buying new switches to handle that.
5. Do you want to make or receive calls from your laptop?
One of the big advantages of Internet voice is being able to take a phone and connect it anywhere on the Internet and have it work as if it is sitting in your office. But to get to this point, you need equipment that can support remote users. In some cases, you will need a phone that has a built-in Virtual Private Network client (Snom.com sells such IP phones, for example) to connect to your corporate network, just like a remote PC user uses. You’ll also need a good quality USB headset to make the calls and have software that works with your Internet Service voice provider.
